Converted Files Still Wont Work With Windows Movie Maker?

I have a series of videos that i had taken with my iPhone search3g.com”target=”_blank”rel=”external”title=”search 3g” >3gs, i know that windows movie maker is not compatible with the .mov files that the phone records the videos in. I converted them into .avi format so that they would work in windows movie maker. However, when i try to import the converted .avi files the program says that it cant open the files and that there is a unspecified error. Also, some of the converted files are not correctly synced. Its not even minor, the video plays like its in super fast motion, and the audio plays at normal speed. How do i fix these problems? My main concern is getting the videos into the movie maker program. Thank You!
