Do I Have A Blackberry Tree In My Backyard?

This tree about 30 feet tall with black berries all over it. I’m trying to figure out if it is a blackberry tree. They are not as plump as blackberries. They turned my fingers a dark purple and the stems are not easy to get out. Are there berries that look like blackberries that are poisonous? I just want to make sure that these berries are safe.

Blackberries grow on thorny vines on the ground. Whatever is on your tree, it isn’t blackberries.

are the leaves on the tree big? and is that where the berries are growing under the leaves? if yes then its a Mulberry tree, totally safe to eat and are delicious!!!

Blackberries grow on thorny canes like raspberries do.
If this is a large tree, it is a mulberry.
Yes they are edible, although I don’t like them. They are sweet without any flavor, and they’re mushy.
Plus, mulberry trees are horribly prolific. They will grow anywhere and grow like weeds.
