How Do I Fix This Problem With My Computer?

By admin Posted in: windows phone

I am trying to put music on my phone using a USB cord from my phone to my computer(a Eee Net book ran on windows XP). When I plug it in, i go to my computer and it is under removable disk. When I click on that it says please insert a disk into drive X: and the only choice I have from there is to cancel. I don’t know what to do about this i have tried changing the port letter and it did not work at all. What do I do i really want to put music on my phone this way.

If the phone uses a micro SD card, and your computer has a SD card port, get a card(if you dont have one) with an adapter to fit in the slot-a usb adapter would work too. Plug it in and put music on that, then plug the card into the slot in your phone-usually on the side or under the battery cover. your phone should figure out that its music

i had the same problem with my iphone 4, its the same windows XP and everything, i tried to put music in it but the pc would say that nothing is connected, so i asked my uncle (hes a computer tech geek), and he checked it, and he says that windows XP is an older version that comes with a defect:
anything newer than that computer the system wont accept it because of the way its been programmed, so i was sad, and just bought a newer pc with windows vista

have you put in the software CD for the phone? Many phones have windows compatible software that allows the phone to synchronise with windows. Without it Windows often sees a storage device and will not write to or from it as it does not have the right protocols in the software to access it.

Does you’re phone have a mini SD or comparable chip used for auxiliary storage? If yes, then your computer is probably not seeing your phone as a Phone, but as a media card reader, which if you don’t have a media card in it… it wont find anything and will ask you to put one in it.

Depends on what phone you are trying to but you could try right clicking the drive and choosing explore instead (may not work but happened to my old phone)
