Is He My Friend Or Does He Like Me?

I have a friend, and we have been friends since the 4th grade (in 8th grade now). He is kind of a nerd; not too much, he obsesses over his apple products and his motor vehicles (he shares a quad with his sister) but will probably become an engineer when he grows up and make a lot of $mulah$.
This guy used to like me, and went on and off. A literal “he loves me, he loves me not” situation. Long story short, he’s been getting, like, CLOSE. Playing footsie a lot, annoying me, getting a bit too close for comfort and smiling at all my jokes (idk about this one because I’m considered funny where i come from ). He talks to me every chance he gets; Im probably his favorite (girl) friend. Just today, half an hour after school, he called my up on FaceTime (to my iPhone from his iPad XD ) and we rarely stopped. Almost 6 solid hours. Damn.
But a few months ago, he told us his philosophy on how he won’t even give dating a CHANCE until he graduates. Not middle school, not high school; College. With his Major in Engineering. What a loser but he’s my loser. I’m responsible He also freaks out whenever I do something that seems like flirting, but he stopped that a little while ago, so I ask you strangers: Is he just my good friend, or is he not-so-madly in love with me?
BTW I USED TO LIKE THIS GUY, but I don’t really anymore. But he’s my #1 guy friend. I care about him.
