My Crush Is Sending Mixed Signals!?

I’ve had a crush on this one guy for the whole school year. We have lockers next to each other, so we talk sometimes, but we’re not good friends. He’s been sending mixed signals as to whether he likes me or not.
I’m in an accelerated progress program, so everyone in our program has been together for 3 years or more. As a result, we’re like a big, awkward family. So pretty much everyone in our grade (including my crush, probably) knows I like him.
Sometimes I’ll catch him staring at me in math, then he’ll look down real quick. Also, his friends will sometimes tease him at lunch when I walk by them in the halls. (That could just be from me liking him.)
Also, I was once “zapped” to him. “Zap” is a game where someone writes a time on the back of your hand, and a name on your palm. If you look at the name before the time, you have to ask that person out on a date.
So, I got zapped. I looked at the name and asked him out. He said that he wasn’t allowed to date yet (we’re in middle school). But, not to be deterred, the crowd of people who were in on the zapping started asking him if he would go out with me if he were allowed to date.
Then he got this panicky and embarrassed look on his face and turned beet red. He was looking anywhere but me and said over and over “I don’t know”.
So, does he like me or not?
