Over the next few days, popular music site Pitchfork (MP3s, reviews, tour dates, etc.) will name the top 200 songs the 1990s.http://pitchfork.com/news/39896-presenti…
So, for those who are interested (and familiar with Pitchfork), name three songs you predict will be in the top ten. Then follow the list as it is unveiled and see if you were right!
I say:
Pavement – “Range Life”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VVj1zqbW…
Pulp – “Common People”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqgXzPfAx…
Radiohead – “Paranoid Android”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9zWLrpkT…

I’m guessing…
“Paranoid Android” by Radiohead
“When You Sleep” by My Bloody Valentine
“In The Aeroplane Over The Sea” by Neutral Milk Hotel
Maybe not in the top ten but hopefully somewhere in the top 200!
Pixies – Where Is My Mind?
Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit (obviously)
Sublime – Santeria
—
Wait, Pixies are 80′s, what am I thinking? ‘K, replace Where is My Mind with… Mathematics – Mos Def.
Maybe
Smells like teen spirit
Paranoid Android by Radiohead
Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden
OutKast – Rosa Parks (They gave B.O.B. by OutKast the title of best track of the 2000s.)
Digable Planets – Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)
Rage Against the Machine – Killing in the Name
I’m not familiar with Pitchfork but with 200 tracks, these 3 are unavoidable.
edit – after reading some of their stuff, it seems like they hate Metal. I’m probably wrong about Slayer and MAYBE RATM but I doubt it cuz they love Rap.
edit 2 – Yeah I fixed that.
I’m sure it’ll be loaded with Grunge *yawn*
Man in The Box – Alice in Chains
Smells Like Teen Spirit – Nirvana
Cannonball – The Breeders
Black Hole Sun- Soundgarden
Black Hole Sun, Alive, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Man in the Box, stuff like that.
yeah, there will be grunge. and a sh*t ton of mid/late 90s british stuff, knowing pitchfork…
